12 die in separate road accidents along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

Twelve people have died in two separate road accidents that occurred in Limuru, Kiambu County, in the last 24 hours.
In the most recent crash, seven people died on Friday morning after a 14-seater matatu lost control at Kamandura junction along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. The vehicle veered off the road, plunged down a steep embankment, and rolled multiple times.

Five passengers died instantly in the Friday morning crash, while two others later passed away while undergoing treatment. Four survivors, all reported to be in critical condition, are currently admitted at Tigoni Hospital.
The accident took place around 8:00 am, roughly a kilometre away from the location of another deadly crash that occurred the previous evening.
On Thursday night, a private vehicle was involved in a fatal accident after one of its tyres burst, causing the car to crash.
Three people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical care.
Authorities have since towed the wreckage from both incidents to Tigoni Police Station as investigations continue.
